They just wake up in complete bliss and sip on lemonade at the beach all day.
While we’d like to think this type of lifestyle can be easily accomplished and happens overnight. It’s just not true.
It takes consistency, planning, and motivation.

I’ve been there, scrolling through the internet for answers. I was frustrated with reading articles, watching the videos, and listening to the podcast. I just became more educated and more confused, but I never got started. (Well, eventually I got started…giggles)

The first thing first is to understand your purpose. Why do you want this business? What will it do for you and your life? You may not know or understand all the details right now. But, I’m sure you have an overall vision of what you want your life to look like. I’m betting you know how you want to feel and what you want to do in the future. Habit number two of one of my favorite books by Steven Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, says, to begin with, the end in mind.

Covey’s Habit two is focused on our use of imagination. Use your imagination to envision what you cannot see now.
The physical outcome is driven by the mental layout. We have a choice. We can be intentional and make a genuine effort not only to visualize but actually to write down what we want to see physically in our lives. We own our wins, and our losses.
Basically, we have the choice to take control of our life, or we can choose to do nothing, and we give other people the power to shape and mold our lives, whether we like it or not.
We are dream catchers; we take control and make things happen. We just have to practice what we preach and make it happen for ourselves.

Business is all about having customers willing to buy your service or products. Isn’t it? This is why we place the audience first. It doesn’t matter if you have the best product or service in the world without an audience, you’d be spinning your wheels.
It’s easy to second guess and question:
“Who will read my blog?”
“Will anyone be interested or willing to listen to me?”
“I don’t know if I’m ready to start a business.”
Those thoughts are limiting and aren’t the truth. If you focus on limiting beliefs, you’ll have limited success.
So let’s have unlimited beliefs and imagine, there are a ton of people relating to you, not just your friends and family. 😉

Why can’t my business be for everyone?
People act according to their interests. Your friends, family, and others might not have an interest in what your new business has to offer. That’s totally okay, there are many people out there who are interested in what you are providing.
Your tribe is waiting for you to solve its problems. Not everyone will be a fit, and that’s the way you want it. There are so many people that fit your user persona that will gladly walk your customer journey map with their phones in hand, wanting more.
According to eMarketer, mobile retail eCommerce sales reached $2.3 trillion, a 23.2% increase over the previous year, and still growing.
That’s a huge number!
This is why, if you target the right niche audience who have the same interest in what you are providing. And you offer value and speak their language, selling will not be a problem.

After identifying your audience, it’s important to respond to them by solving their problems. Solving their problem becomes your purpose.
Here are a few ways to find out what your customer needs and wants:
- Join Facebook for groups in your niche market
- Use search engines to reverse engineer solutions by searching for the problem. For example, If you are in the dog niche market search, “How can I train my puppy?”
- Do an online poll
- Do online research to find who and where your successful competition hangs out.
- Try searching answerthepublic.com
- Search Quora.com
Now you should be able to determine based on your research what mode of communication your ideal client prefers. Since you know where they hang out. You should hang out there too!
What is your platform to connect with them? How will you position yourself to be an authority for their needs?
Is it Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, TicTock, or somewhere else? Do they prefer reading blogs, listening to podcasts, or watching videos?
Take the time to figure it out so you won’t be spending all your time on one platform when your audience is somewhere else.

Don’t focus on making money at this point. Focus on solving the problem. The money will come soon enough. Invest your precious time and hard work on giving your audience valuable content. The value you provide will turn them into raving buyers.
What Will You Offer

Your potential followers’ responses, requests, and comments will tell you what you should do next. It’s okay if your engagement is not very high, and you only have a few commenters. Create for the few that are responding to you because they make up your core audience.

The first action a customer takes to show interest in what you have to offer is opting into a lead magnet. However, the process of the steps for a lead magnet opt-in is called a lead magnet cycle, map, or a lead magnet funnel. A lead magnet funnel is a map of the process. You are gathering loyal followers by listening and providing valuable content in the form of a freebie or lead magnet. This is how you build a brand.
The freebie that you created is actually a marketing tool to grow your tribe through an email list.
There’s a high possibility that people will find your content and come to your page for a single product, service, or article and leave forever. We certainly don’t want that.
To reduce this, that’s why you collect their email address in exchange for your valuable freebie.
