Is It Good To Be a Perfectionist?

WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN?

Success on paper doesn’t mean success.

Yep! I said it!

You ever see celebrities with all the things we define as a success but you see them on an interview saying how they were dying inside?

Sometimes we think this post could be a little more engaging, a graphic can be more interesting, or maybe we could show up more confident.

Or

Maybe our home could be a little neater, our kids could be a little smarter, our life could be just a bit more perfect.

There’s nothing wrong with striving for more and dreaming bigger.

The problem is when our goals, hopes, and dreams have a negative effect on our lives.

When we set the bar so high it’s impossible to achieve we are PERFECTIONIST.

We use that term loosely but perfectionism is a real issue that can affect all aspects of our lives as well as potentially the lives around us.

1 out of 3 people in the general public suffers from some level of perfectionism.

The smarter you are the numbers go up!

Yep!

The likelihood of being a perfectionist goes up if you are smarter. If you have an above-average IQ or considered gifted and talented the probability of suffering from perfectionism goes up to 4 out of 5!

If you find it hard to meet your own standards, the standards others put on you, or if it’s difficult for others to meet your standards.

This episode is it! Kathryn Ely with @imperfectthriving puts it all into perspective.

TOPICS WE EXPLORED:

  • How perfectionism holds us back in our personal lives
  • How perfectionism sabotages our productivity
  • How to know if we are a perfectionist.
